Nagpur: Sitabuldi police have registered a case against a 21-year-old man for allegedly circulating a video depicting the sexual abuse of a child through an Instagram account identified by a spider-like symbol.

According to the police complaint, the incident took place between 9.42 pm on April 3 and 12.04 am on April 4. The accused allegedly shared the objectionable video on Instagram, prompting police to initiate action over its potential impact on the child.

The case was registered on October 9 following a complaint lodged by Police Sub-Inspector Aniket Shivdas Sonawane of Sitabuldi police station. The accused, identified as Vinit, was 21 years old. He had not been arrested at the time of registration of the case.

Sitabuldi police have invoked Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 67B of the Information Technology Act and Section 15 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further investigation is underway.
