Nagpur: In a major step towards modernizing infrastructure and enhancing operational safety, Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has successfully completed rehabilitation work on 15 railway bridges using the advanced box pushing method during the financial year 2024-25 under Plan Head-32.
The bridges were rehabilitated across crucial sections including Godhani, Talni–Pulgaon, Nagpur Yard, Sewagram–Butibori, Wardha–Badnera, Amla–Nagpur, and Wardha–Nagpur. This achievement marks a significant stride in ensuring long-term durability and safe passage over flood-prone and aging bridge structures.
Key highlights include:
RCC box pushing at Bridge No. 1036/1, Godhani,
Multiple bridge rehabilitations (723/2, 732/2, 737/1, 741/3) on the Wardha section.
Strategic jacketing and span strengthening at Nagpur Yard (Bridge No. 1042/1ORN-2) and Wardha–Nagpur (Bridge No. 835/1).
The box pushing technique, an engineering innovation that enables substructure construction beneath live railway tracks without disrupting train services, was pivotal in achieving these upgrades efficiently.
This coordinated engineering feat was made possible through the dedicated efforts of field units, engineering teams, and on-ground staff.
The successful rehabilitation of 15 bridges using the box pushing method stands as a testament to the technical expertise, strategic planning, and unwavering dedication of the Nagpur Division. By embracing modern engineering practices, the Division not only minimized disruption to train operations but also ensured long-term structural stability and passenger safety.
