Nagpur: The Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Nagpur Crime Branch seized 1.3 kg of ganja worth Rs 32,500 and arrested a repeat offender during a late-night operation in the Sakkardara area. Police are also searching for an externed accused believed to be the supplier.

The operation was conducted between 10.30 pm on August 2 and 12.50 am on August 3 near Maha Kali Sheetla Mata Temple in Rani Bhosale Nagar slum, under the jurisdiction of Sakkardara Police Station.

The arrested accused has been identified as Vicky Ramesh Dubey, a resident of Rani Bhosale Nagar. During the search, police allegedly recovered 1 kg 300 grams of ganja, valued at Rs 32,500, from his possession.

A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(2)(B), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Sakkardara Police Station.

Police said Dubey is a repeat offender and was previously booked in a under the NDPS Act at the same police station.

Investigators have also named Aslam Khan alias Bhuru Daud Khan, a resident of Nagpur, as a wanted accused in the case. According to police, Aslam has three NDPS cases registered against him and is an externed offender on the records of Sakkardara Police Station.

The complaint was lodged by Police Head Constable Arvind Bedekar of the Anti-Narcotics Squad, Crime Branch, Nagpur City. Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused and identify the source of the seized contraband.
