Nagpur: Kapil Nagar Police have registered a rape case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against a 19-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting his 14-year-old minor cousin while she was alone at home. The victim was later found to be pregnant during a medical examination at Mayo Hospital.

According to the police complaint, the incident took place on June 18, 2026, around 12 noon, when the victim’s 36-year-old mother had gone to Mayo Hospital, leaving the minor girl alone at their residence.

The accused, identified as Suraj Gautam Madke (19), a resident of Medhe Pathar, Katol, Nagpur district, allegedly took advantage of the situation and forcibly established sexual relations with the minor. Police said the accused is the victim’s cousin nephew, and both families were known to each other.

The complainant further alleged that the accused threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed the incident to anyone. The crime came to light after the minor underwent treatment at Mayo Hospital, where doctors confirmed that she was pregnant.

Based on the mother’s complaint, Kapil Nagar Police registered a case on August 2 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 64, 65(2), and 351(3), along with Sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act.

The accused has been booked, and further investigation is being carried out by the Kapil Nagar Police. The identity of the minor victim has been withheld in accordance with legal provisions protecting child victims of sexual offences.
