Nagpur: Acting on credible information, the Unit 5 team of the Crime Branch conducted a successful operation against illegal gambling in Koradi area. The raid took place on Sunday between 5:50 pm and 6:30 pm, under the jurisdiction of the Koradi Police Station.
The team, while patrolling Ghonge Layout area in Bokhara, discovered individuals engaging in illegal gambling under a public banyan tree. Upon raiding the spot, the police caught three individuals red-handed playing cards for money.
The arrested suspects were identified as: Tushar Ganesh Shambharkar (23), resident of Mahadula, Mahesh Sanjay Choudhary (24), resident of Dhangre Layout, Koradi and Devendra Yograj Navdhinge (36), resident of Suradevi, Koradi.
Five other individuals managed to escape, including:
Gaurav Zhele (26) and Karan Devkar (28), both residents of Mahadula, Koradi.
A total of ₹3,96,300 worth of items were seized, including ₹6,300 in cash, playing cards, three mobile phones, and four two-wheelers. The accused have been charged under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act at the Koradi Police Station. The arrested individuals, along with the seized items, have been handed over to Koradi Police for further investigation.
This operation was carried out under the guidance of senior officers, including Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP (Crime) Sudhir Nandanwar.
The on-ground team comprised Police Inspector Rahul Shire, PSI Rahul Rote, and personnel Tapplal Chute, Rajendra Taklikar, Chandrashekhar Gautam, Ganesh Thakre, Pramod Bawne, Anis Khan, Vishal Nagbhidre, Devchand Thote, Roshan Tandulkar, Sunil Yadav, and Amol Bhakte.
Further investigation is underway to locate the absconding accused.
