Nagpur: MIDC Police Station arrested a murder accused in connection with the brutal killing of a 32-year-old man who was allegedly beaten to death with a stone on the outskirts of Nagpur.

The deceased has been identified as Ankush Kishor Shende (32), a resident of Panchsheel Nagar on Isasani Road. Police said Ankush was addicted to alcohol and remained unemployed for several years, due to which his wife had reportedly left him and returned to her parental home.

According to police, the incident took place between 5 pm and 7.15 pm on May 17 on a kaccha road leading towards Ashiq Shah Mashuq Shah Dargah under MIDC police limits. Ankush was allegedly consuming alcohol with his friends when an argument broke out over an unknown issue.

The accused, identified as Vicky alias Dattu Sanjay Mohod (28), a resident near Buddha Vihar in Isasani, along with another accused Mukul Rowtel, allegedly attacked Ankush with a stone and killed him on the spot.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Kishor Pandurang Shende (64), police registered a case under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. One accused, Vicky alias Dattu Mohod, has been arrested while police are searching for the second accused.

Further investigation is underway.
