Event Held Under the Chairmanship of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari
Nagpur: Addressing a long-standing traffic issue in the Manish Nagar area, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a newly constructed Railway Under Bridge (RUB) on Tuesday, January 28. The event was held under the chairmanship of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. The project aims to alleviate the traffic congestion that has plagued the area for over two decades.
Speaking at the event, CM Fadnavis emphasized that despite the construction of a flyover earlier, traffic issues persisted in the region. “To resolve this, we initiated a second connectivity project under the guidance of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. This new RUB will help in significantly reducing traffic congestion,” he said.
Third Connectivity Project Planned for the Area:
Highlighting future developments, the Chief Minister stated that a third connectivity project will soon be established to further improve traffic flow in the area. “This challenging project was successfully completed by Maha Metro and other agencies, and we are confident that Manish Nagar will soon have even better connectivity,” he added.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also addressed the gathering, pointing out that a previous underpass had failed to resolve the problem. “A new underpass location was identified, and Maha Metro was entrusted with the work. The Maharashtra government has now also approved a third flyover, which will connect near Hotel Radisson. This will benefit residents of Manish Nagar, Besa, and Beltarodi,” Gadkari noted.
He highlighted that the previous level crossing, used by over 170 trains daily, caused significant inconvenience to commuters. The new RUB has resolved this issue, providing smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow.
Details of the Somalwada-Manish Nagar RUB Project:
The Somalwada-Manish Nagar RUB project was built at a cost of ₹33.83 crore. Key features include:
• Length: 190 meters

The RUB connects Manish Nagar with Wardha Road, providing seamless connectivity for residents of Manish Nagar, Besa, Beltarodi, and Ghogali. The project is expected to benefit lakhs of commuters by eliminating the delays caused by the railway crossing. It will also help reduce traffic congestion and save travel time for residents in the region.
