Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit No. 02 has successfully cracked a series of vehicle theft cases in Nagpur with the detention of a juvenile in conflict with law, leading to the recovery of stolen two-wheelers and other valuables worth ₹1.14 lakh.

According to police, between 7.30 pm on December 30, 2025, and 7.30 am on December 31, 2025, an unknown thief stole a white Activa scooter (MH-49 A-3201) worth ₹10,000 from the parking area of Bhagyalaxmi Apartment, located opposite the Teachers’ Bank on Nandanvan Road, under Kotwali police station limits. The scooter belonged to Priyanka Yogesh Trivedi (27), who later lodged a complaint at Kotwali police station.

Based on her complaint, a case was registered under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unknown accused.

During the parallel investigation, officers and staff of Crime Branch Unit No. 03, acting on technical analysis and credible intelligence, detained a juvenile suspect. Upon sustained interrogation, the juvenile confessed not only to the Kotwali Activa theft but also admitted involvement in three additional vehicle theft cases, including one each under Sakkardara and Kotwali police station limits.

Police recovered three stolen Activa mopeds (MH-49 A-3201, MH-40 CR-5182) along with two Livguard company batteries from the juvenile’s possession. The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹1.14 lakh. The juvenile, along with the recovered property, was handed over to Kotwali police for further legal action. Further investigation is underway.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil, with Police Inspector Mahesh Sagde and his team executing the action.
