₹1.91 Lakh Stolen from Scooter After Man Gets Injured in Accident in New Kamptee

Nagpur: The New Kamptee Police Station has registered a case against two accused for allegedly stealing ₹1.91 lakh from a scooter’s storage compartment after its owner met with an accident.


The complainant’s father, Lavkesh Shahu (55), a scrap dealer from Gauri Shankar Nagar, Kalamna, was travelling to his shop in Khaparkheda on February 17, 2026, around 8 am on his Activa (MH-49-Z-4468). Near Khushbu Motor Showroom under New Kamptee police limits, he met with an accident and lost consciousness. Locals rushed him to Lifeline Hospital for treatment, leaving the two-wheeler at the spot.


Later, when the complainant arrived at the scene to retrieve the scooter, he found its storage compartment open and ₹1,91,000 in cash missing. Upon checking CCTV footage from the showroom premises, two men were seen stealing the cash from the scooter’s dickey.


The suspects were identified as Nikhil Ramkrishna Rangari (35), a resident of Jay Bhim Chowk, Kamptee, and Dinesh Laxman Raut (65), a resident of Kamgar Nagar, Kamptee.


Based on a complaint filed by the victim, Sub-Inspector Satish Pawar registered an offence under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused, and further investigation is in progress.
