Nagpur: A five-year-old boy tragically lost his life after suffering an electric shock while playing on the terrace of his relative's house in Yashodhara Nagar area of Nagpur.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 2.30 pm on June 1 at Tipu Sultan Chowk in Garib Nawaz Nagar under the jurisdiction of Yashodhara Nagar Police Station.

The deceased child was identified as Mohammad Sahat Ahmed, son of Mohammad Arshad Mohammad. Police said the boy was playing on the terrace of his uncle's residence when he accidentally came into contact with an electric wire and received a severe electric shock.

Family members immediately rushed the child to Mayo Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead upon examination.

Based on information provided by the child's uncle, Mohammad Ahfaz Mohammad Abid (30), Yashodhara Nagar Police registered an accidental death report and initiated further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police officials said they are conducting inquiries to determine whether any negligence or safety lapses contributed to the tragedy.
