Nagpur: In a swift and coordinated operation, Crime Branch Unit 2 of Nagpur Police arrested a 21-year-old youth involved in an armed robbery that took place late on Wednesday night under the jurisdiction of Dhantoli Police Station. The accused has been identified as Mayur Pankaj Ganvir (21), a resident of Vishwas Nagar, Gittikhadan, who was residing on rent at the house of Akash Hatagade.

According to the police, complainant Milan Mohan Waghmare (30), a resident of Indira Nagar No. 1, Jattatrodi, Imamwada, was returning home around 11.50 pm on October 30 when three unidentified men on a Hero Splendor bike intercepted him. The assailants threatened him with a knife and snatched away cash and a mobile phone worth ₹13,000 before fleeing from the spot.

Based on his complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the BNS at Dhantoli Police Station. Taking cognizance, Crime Branch Unit 2 officials conducted a detailed technical investigation and soon identified the culprits. A trap was laid, leading to the arrest of Ganvir.

During interrogation, Ganvir confessed to committing the robbery along with his accomplices — Sohel Khan (20), a resident of Azad Nagar, Gittikhadan, and a juvenile in conflict with law. Police recovered the motorcycle used in the crime, ₹6,200 cash, and a mobile phone, collectively worth ₹76,200.

The accused has been handed over to Dhantoli Police for further investigation, while efforts are on to trace the absconding accomplices.

This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil, and supervised by PI Mahesh Sagade, PSI Manoj Raut, and team members Vivek Zingre, Naresh Tumdam, Pravin Shelke, Suresh Telewar, Mangal Jadhav, and Mithun Naik, with special assistance from the Cyber Unit.
