Nagpur: Traffic was disrupted on the busy Nagpur–Wardha Road on Wednesday afternoon after a truck carrying dry chillies caught fire near Chichbhuvan.

According to preliminary information, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in the vehicle. The blaze quickly spread through the consignment of dry chillies, intensifying the flames and smoke.

Fire brigade teams from the Nagpur Fire Department responded promptly and managed to bring the fire under control, preventing further escalation. No casualties have been reported so far.

However, the incident caused significant disruption on the stretch. Sacks of chillies spilled onto the road, and the strong pungent fumes released from the burning and scattered produce created discomfort for commuters. The combination of smoke and debris slowed down traffic movement for a considerable period.

Authorities worked to clear the roadway and restore normal traffic flow. Further investigation into the exact cause of the fire is underway.
