Nagpur: A 28-year-old man died after sustaining fatal injuries when he allegedly jumped from the roof of his house and landed on an iron gate in Kalamna area in the early hours of Sunday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Shehzad Ali, son of Shabbir Ali (28), a resident of Gulshan Nagar, behind the Gulshan Nagar police outpost under Kalamna police station limits.
According to police, the incident occurred around 3 am on September 6 when Shehzad allegedly jumped from the roof of his residence. He fell onto the iron gate below, causing one of its iron rods to pierce his abdomen.
His brother, Syed Haider Ali, rushed him to Mayo Hospital for treatment. However, doctors examined Shehzad and declared him dead at around 5 am.
Kalamna police have registered an accidental death case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) based on the statement of the deceased’s brother. Police are conducting further inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
