Nagpur: In view of New Year celebrations and the upcoming elections, Zone 4 Police led by DCP Rashmitha Rao intensified preventive action by conducting a special combing operation and naka-bandi drives. The operation was carried out on December 27 and 30, 2025, between 5.50 pm and 11.00 pm.
As part of the drive, police teams from Hudkeshwar, Nandanvan, Imamwada, Ajni, Sakkardara and Beltarodi police stations carried out intensive checks and surprise actions in their respective jurisdictions. The focus was on preventing serious crimes, curbing illegal activities and maintaining law and order during the festive period.
According to official data, a total of 149 accused were booked in various cases. Of these, three accused were arrested, while 28 persons were bound down under preventive provisions. Police also conducted 193 vehicle checks during naka-bandi operations and initiated action against traffic and other violations.
The operation led to significant seizures and cases, including six cases of illegal weapon possession, 23 cases of illegal liquor sale, nine cases of drug consumption, five cases of gambling, and nine cases of loudspeaker-related violations. Additionally, 35 liquor shops were inspected and warned against illegal sale, while 12 establishments were booked for other offences. Action was also taken against offenders for public nuisance and related violations.
Senior officers personally supervised the operation. DCP Rao led the drive with the support of police inspectors and staff from all concerned police stations. Each police station deployed dedicated teams, including officers and personnel, ensuring effective coverage of sensitive areas.
Police officials stated that such special comb-out operations and naka-bandi drives will continue in the coming days to deter criminal elements and ensure a safe and peaceful New Year for citizens.
