Nagpur: A seemingly minor incident during a game of cricket escalated into violence in the Kalamna area of Nagpur after a cricket ball landed on the roof of a house, leading to an alleged assault on a 21-year-old youth.
According to police, the incident took place at around 5 pm on June 25, 2026, at an open plot in Naveen Bhagat Nagar under Kalamna Police Station limits. The complainant, Tushar Nandkishor Chunne (21), a resident of Plot No. 45, Naveen Bhagat Nagar, was playing cricket with his friend, Shlok Raj Gautam, at the vacant plot.
During the game, the cricket ball reportedly fell onto the tin roof of the house of Jayant Jagdish Gandole (38), a resident of Naveen Bhagat Nagar. Enraged over the incident, the accused allegedly abused Tushar in obscene language and assaulted him with a plastic pipe, hitting him on his left hand and ribs.
The complainant was taken to Bhavani Hospital in Pardi for treatment. Based on his complaint, Kalamna Police registered a case under Sections 118(1) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
