Nagpur: An unidentified elderly man was found unconscious and later declared dead in the Lakadganj police station area on Thursday evening.

Police said the man, estimated to be around 60–65 years old, was found lying in an unconscious state near Golakund area beside NIT Garden, close to Jagannath Swami Temple in Ghas Bazaar at around 6:05 pm on January 22.

Local residents alerted authorities, following which the man was shifted to Mayo Hospital for medical treatment. However, doctors examined him and declared him dead before admission.

A case of accidental death has been registered at Lakadganj Police Station based on information provided by Sagar Suresh Paunikar (32), a resident of Mankarwadi near Bhavani Hospital, Pardi. Police are working to establish the identity of the deceased and ascertain the exact cause of death. Further investigation is in progress.
