Nagpur: A major house break-in has been reported under the Kalamna police station limits, where unidentified burglars decamped with cash, gold ornaments, a mobile phone and a two-wheeler collectively worth ₹43 lakh, police said.
The complainant, Amna Mohammad Iqbal (23), a resident of Plot No. 103, Teacher’s Colony, Bharat Nagar, had temporarily shifted to her grandmother’s house nearby on the night of January 21 after locking her residence. Her parents and siblings had travelled to Sendhwa in Madhya Pradesh for Ayurvedic treatment of her younger brother’s neurological ailment.
According to police, between 9 pm on January 21 and 1:15 pm on January 22, unknown accused scaled the compound wall, broke open the main door lock and latch, and entered the house. The burglars allegedly stole ₹15 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, an iPhone mobile handset and an Activa scooter kept on the premises.
Based on the complaint, Kalamna Police have registered a case of house-breaking and theft against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to trace the accused and recover the stolen property.
