Nagpur: A tragic incident in Minimata Nagar, Kalamna, claimed the life of a two-year-old boy on February 24. The child, identified as Kush Rajendra Patel, had been missing for some time when his family began searching the surrounding area.

During the search, the toddler was found unconscious inside an uncovered water tank situated beneath the staircase outside the home of Guddu alias Imammuddin Mohammad Azaruddin Shah (42), a neighbor residing directly opposite the complainant’s house.

Family members immediately rescued the unconscious child and rushed him to Parekh Clinic and then to Dr. Pugaliya Hospital in Wardhaman Nagar. Despite efforts, doctors declared Kush dead on arrival. Based on the complaint filed by Jitendra Shankar Patel (37), Kalamna Police concluded that the child’s death resulted from the accused’s negligence. The neighbor had allegedly left the water tank open without any safety lid or protective covering, causing the child to lose balance and fall inside.

PSI Hanumant Ingle registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and promptly arrested the accused. Further investigation is in progress.
