Nagpur: Khaparkheda Police arrested a man for illegally stocking and selling diesel after acting on a late-night tip-off in the early hours of February 25, 2026.
Between 12:04 am and 12:30 am, a police patrol team received credible information that an individual was storing and selling diesel unlawfully near a roadside paan shop located on the Bitgaon–Suradevi road. Acting swiftly, officers conducted a raid at the location in the presence of panch witnesses and found a man identified as Suraj Manohar Mangate (30) of Waregaon, Kamptee .
A search of the kiosk revealed two blue plastic drums containing approximately 280 liters of a diesel-like inflammable substance stocked without authorization. The accused failed to produce any license or documentation during questioning. Police determined that he had been engaged in black marketing of diesel for financial gain by illegally storing and selling the fuel. Officers seized the entire 280-liter stock, valued at ₹22,400, from his possession.
A case was registered at Khaparkheda Police Station under Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 and Sections 4 and 23 of the Petroleum Act, 1934. Suraj Mangate was arrested, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP Dr. Sandeep Pakhale (Zone 6) and ACP Ankush Khedkar (Kamptee Division), with the action executed by PI Harish Rumkar, PSI Vilas Karangami, Hawaldar Alok Rawat, and Constables Raju Bhoyar and Amit Khobragade.
