Nagpur: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of Central Railway’s Nagpur Division once again demonstrated their dedication towards child safety through their ongoing initiative “Operation Nanhey Farishte.” In three separate incidents reported on 27 and 28 October 2025, alert RPF teams at Narkhed, Nagpur and Betul successfully rescued minors who were found travelling alone or in distress and ensured their safe rehabilitation in coordination with Childline and Child Welfare Committees (CWC).

At Narkhed Railway Station, RPF personnel promptly responded to a message received through the Divisional Security Control Room and located a boy travelling alone onboard a train. The child was counselled empathetically and, after due verification and documentation, was safely handed over to Childline Nagpur. Later, as per the directions of the Child Welfare Committee, the child was reunited with his family members in the presence of RPF officials and representatives from Childline.

At Nagpur Railway Station, RPF staff under the supervision of Sub-Inspector V. P. Singh, along with women constables, rescued a minor girl found travelling alone in a train. The girl revealed she had left home following a domestic disagreement. The RPF officers handled the situation sensitively and ensured her immediate protection.

The rescued girl was safely handed over to the Government Girls Home, Nagpur, until her family members arrived to take her custody through proper legal procedure.

In another case, at Betul Railway Station, an RPF woman constable noticed two school-going children loitering on the platform without guardians. On questioning, it was found that they had left home without informing their families.

The RPF team brought them to the RPF Post Betul, where, after counselling and verification, the case was referred to the Child Welfare Committee. One child was handed over safely to his mother, while the girl was provided shelter at a One Stop Centre for protection, as per the directions of the CWC.

These timely and humane interventions by RPF staff under “Operation Nanhey Farishte” once again highlight the Force’s commitment to the protection and welfare of children travelling on Indian Railways.
