Nagpur: Kalmana police have registered a case against a truck driver in connection with a fatal road accident in which a 32-year-old woman lost her life after being hit by a speeding truck.
The incident occurred on December 23, 2025, between 4.30 pm and 4.40 pm, on Deputy Signal Road near the railway crossing under the Kalmana police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Sapna Mahesh Markande, a resident of Mini Mata Nagar, Pachzopda area, near Jain Dharmarth Hospital in Kalmana.
According to the police, Sapna was cycling through the area when the driver of a truck (MH 40 CT 9596) allegedly drove the vehicle at high speed in a rash and negligent manner and rammed into her bicycle. Due to the impact, she fell on the road and sustained serious head injuries.
She was immediately rushed to Mayo Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared her dead after examination.
Based on a complaint lodged by her husband, Mahesh Sukitaram Markande (34), Kalmana police registered an offence against the truck driver under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case has been registered. Further investigation is underway.
