Nagpur: A police constable was injured after a speeding Renault Duster allegedly rammed into a government police vehicle and another motorcycle during a patrol operation near Alankar Chowk in Bajaj Nagar, Nagpur, in the early hours of October 4.
According to the Bajaj Nagar Police, the incident occurred around 2.30 am when police constable Sandeep Rangnath Dhakne, 28, was on duty as the driver of a government vehicle bearing registration number MH-31-FU-8650.
Dhakne had been directed to conduct division patrolling after receiving instructions from senior officers. While on patrol, he reportedly noticed a suspected person arriving on a motorcycle and stopped him for verification.
While Dhakne was checking the motorcycle, the driver of a Renault Duster bearing registration number MH-04-GJ-0419 allegedly drove at high speed and in a negligent manner. The vehicle reportedly crashed into the government police vehicle and the motorcycle that had been stopped nearby. The accused, identified as Ayush Deepak Bajpai, a resident of Ambika Palace near Hingna T-Point.
Dhakne sustained a blunt injury to his waist in the collision, while the government vehicle was also damaged.
Bajaj Nagar Police registered FIR under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 184 and 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
