Nagpur: Nandavan Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after a 17-year-old girl alleged that a 20-year-old man sexually assaulted her at an F Zone Cafe in the Nandavan area and later threatened her against revealing the incident.
According to the police report, the girl became acquainted with the accused, Samir Sheikh (20), a resident of Sakkardara, through her friend. Police said Sheikh allegedly told the girl that he liked her and subsequently developed a friendship with her.
The incident reportedly took place on July 29, 2026, when the accused allegedly called the girl to the cafe and sexually assaulted her against her will. He allegedly threatened her with consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone, following which she remained silent.
Police said the accused allegedly continued to harass the girl. She eventually informed her father, and the family approached a social welfare NGO in Nagpur, where details of the incident were discussed.
According to the complaint, on October 4, the accused allegedly went to the girl’s house and attempted to force her to take a pregnancy test using a pregnancy testing kit. The incident allegedly caused the girl considerable fear and mental distress, following which she approached Nandavan Police with her father and lodged a complaint.
Police have registered FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act.
