Nagpur: In a tragic hit-and-run incident, a 29-year-old man lost his life after a speeding BMW rammed into a two-wheeler near Chinchbhavan in the early hours of Sunday, June 8. The deceased has been identified as Yogesh Tulsidas Bopche, a resident of Jageesh Nagar in Gittikhadan. The car driver fled the scene after the collision and remains unidentified.

According to Beltarodi police, the incident occurred around 4 am while Bopche was returning after delivering a tiffin to a relative admitted at AIIMS hospital. He was accompanied by a relative on the motorcycle when the luxury car (BMW HP-89/A 1592), reportedly moving at high speed, struck them from behind with great force near Chinchbhavan under the Beltarodi police station limits.

The impact of the crash threw both Bopche and his relative onto the road. Locals who rushed to help claimed that several liquor bottles were found inside the BMW. Both victims were immediately shifted to AIIMS hospital in a critical condition. Bopche succumbed to his injuries later that night, while his relative is still battling for life.

Police have registered a case against the unidentified BMW driver and have launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the vicinity is being examined to trace the accused, and a manhunt has been initiated.

The incident has sparked public outrage over reckless driving and alleged drunk driving in the city. Authorities are urging eyewitnesses to come forward with any information that could aid in the investigation.
