Nagpur: Railway Protection Force (RPF), Nagpur Division, conducted a targeted surveillance operation under “Operation Uplabdh” at the railway reservation centre located near Santra Market, East Side of Nagpur Station, acting on credible intelligence inputs.
During the operation, the RPF Crime Intelligence Branch team, comprising ASI Pankaj Sharma and Constable Harvinder Singh, intercepted an individual in possession of a live “Tatkal” railway ticket. Upon questioning, the individual confessed that the ticket was not for personal travel and had been booked on behalf of others for commission.
Further examination of the suspect’s mobile phone led to the discovery of multiple previously booked “Tatkal” tickets with a cumulative value of over ₹29,000, indicating a systematic practice of black marketing of railway reservation tickets. The investigation revealed that the individual had been booking and selling railway tickets illegally for monetary gain.
A case has been registered under Section 143 of the Indian Railways Act for unauthorized ticketing activities. In line with Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS-2023), the suspect has been issued a notice for further inquiry.
This crackdown reinforces Central Railway Nagpur Division’s dedication to curbing unauthorized ticketing. Passengers are urged to use only official railway platforms or authorized agents for ticket bookings.
