Nagpur: The Nagpur Crime Branch’s Unit 5 has busted an alleged prostitution racket operating from Exotica Spa in the Wathoda area and arrested two people under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (PITA), 1956. Three women were rescued during the raid, while one woman accused, believed to be managing the spa, remains absconding.

According to police, the raid was conducted on August 3 between 4:41 pm and 10:40 pm at Exotica Spa, located at Plot No. 37/38, Jai Jalaram Nagar, Wathoda Layout, near Mata Mandir in Nagpur.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sarika Chandrakant Shrirao (48), the owner of the spa, and Chandrakant Divakar Shirgaon (59), who allegedly managed the establishment. Police are searching for Kamini Kumari (25), the spa caretaker, originally from Begusarai district in Bihar and currently residing in Pardi, Nagpur.

During the operation, police rescued three women who were allegedly being exploited for commercial sexual activities. Investigators alleged that the accused lured the women with financial incentives and provided them with space and customers at the spa to carry out prostitution for monetary gain.

The Crime Branch seized cash, mobile phones, payment devices and other materials collectively valued at ₹67,200. The seized property includes ₹5,180 in cash, a sealed condom packet, two PhonePe payment boxes, a PhonePe QR scanner, an Axis Bank card swipe machine, three OnePlus smartphones, one Redmi smartphone and one Itel keypad mobile phone.

Based on the findings, Wathoda Police have registered a case under Sections 143(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused and determine whether more persons were involved in the alleged racket.
