Nagpur: Kalamna Police have solved a house burglary that took place while a family was away attending a wedding, arresting two accused and recovering stolen gold jewellery and an HP laptop worth ₹1 lakh. The case was registered under Sections 305(a), 331(3), and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

According to police, complainant Raju Keshavrao Bootke (57), a resident of Gajmukh Society in Om Sai Nagar under Kalamna Police Station limits, had locked his house and left with his family for his cousin’s wedding in Gumgaon on the morning of June 23, 2026. When the family returned the next morning, they found the door latch broken. On entering the house, they discovered that the bedroom cupboard had been forced open and valuables including gold and silver jewellery, a Fuji camera, an HP laptop, and ₹15,000 in cash had been stolen by unidentified thieves.

During the investigation, Kalamna Police examined footage from 10 to 15 CCTV cameras in the area and also developed leads through a reliable informant. Based on the evidence, police identified and arrested Sumit Ganpat Meshram (19) of Naragaon, Jaripatka, and Dhruv Rajesh Birbal (20) of Timki Tinkhamba Chowk. The police recovered a gold pendant, a pair of gold earrings, and an HP laptop, with the total recovered property valued at ₹1 lakh, successfully cracking the burglary case.

The investigation was led by Senior Police Inspector Pravin Kale along with PSI Ajay Jadhav and the Kalamna Police investigation team.
