Nagpur: Days after the alleged forced religious conversion case reported from Sonegaon, another similar case has come to light in Nagpur, with Mankapur Police registering an FIR against four persons on charges of kidnapping, rape, child marriage, forgery, assault, forced religious conversion and offences under the POCSO Act.

According to police, the complainant, a 21-year-old Hindu woman, alleged that the main accused, Sameer Munir Ali (24), kidnapped her in August 2020 when she was just 16 years old and kept her with him. She alleged that he established physical relations with her by treating her as his wife.

The woman further alleged that Sameer forged her Aadhaar card by falsely showing her as a major. Using the forged document, he allegedly took her to a madrasa at Awasthi Chowk, where an unidentified Maulana (around 40 years old) solemnised their marriage in the presence of Aziza Munir Ali (45) and Munir Ali (50).

The complainant also alleged that she was forced to convert her religion after the marriage. She claimed that while living with the accused, Sameer, Aziza and Munir Ali frequently assaulted her and subjected her to physical and mental harassment.

According to the FIR, the woman later became pregnant and now has a four-year-old son from the relationship.

Based on her complaint, Mankapur Police have registered a case under Sections 363, 376(2), 498A, 493, 465, 468, 471, 323 and 34 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the POCSO Act and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.

Police have launched an investigation into the case.
