Nagpur: In a continued drive to enhance passenger safety under Operation Yatri Suraksha, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Nagpur apprehended two individuals involved in separate mobile phone theft cases at Nagpur Railway Station.
In the first incident, a complaint was lodged on March 24, 2026, regarding the theft of a mobile phone from the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) area on Platform No. 1. Acting swiftly, the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS), along with the Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) and RPF Nagpur team, examined CCTV footage to trace the accused.
Following a sustained search operation on March 25, the suspect was intercepted near Mumbai End Lohapuliya within the railway premises. During interrogation, he admitted to stealing a Vivo mobile phone valued at ₹11,500 from a passenger who was asleep at the station. The accused was subsequently handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) Nagpur, where a case has been registered for further investigation.
In a separate operation on the same day, RPF personnel apprehended another suspect near Platform No. 1 at the Itarsi End. A stolen Vivo mobile phone worth ₹18,500 was recovered from his possession. During questioning, the accused confessed to stealing the device while it was left unattended and charging on the platform. He was also handed over to GRP Nagpur for legal action.
Both operations were conducted under the supervision and guidance of Shri Manoj Kumar, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF Nagpur.
The swift action by RPF Nagpur under Operation Yatri Suraksha underscores the force’s intensified efforts to curb theft and ensure a secure environment for railway passengers. Authorities have urged commuters to remain vigilant and avoid leaving personal belongings unattended while at railway stations.
