Nagpur: A 29-year-old woman police constable sustained a fracture to her right leg after an unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed her government two-wheeler from behind while she was on official duty in Nagpur. The driver fled the spot without stopping to help her, following the accident on October 19.

According to the complaint registered at MIDC Police Station, the woman constable, Baljit Kaur, was posted at Hingna Police Station and was travelling on a government-issued Pleasure moped (MH 31 FV 1699) to deliver official correspondence.

While she was proceeding along the road, an unidentified vehicle allegedly approached at high speed and hit her two-wheeler from behind. The driver reportedly drove away without stopping.

The impact caused Kaur to fall onto the road, leaving her with a fracture below the right knee. She was subsequently admitted to Shalinitai Meghe Hospital in Wanadongri for treatment.

As the complainant could not identify the vehicle or note its registration number, the driver remains unidentified in the available police report.

MIDC Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is underway to identify the vehicle and trace the absconding driver.
