Nagpur: Four Apple iPhones were allegedly stolen from a 62-year-old man and his friend while they were performing a religious ritual at the Koradi Devi Temple on October 19.

The complainant, Rajkumar Surajkumar Khandelwal (62), a transport office operator residing at Himalaya Enclave Society in Shivajinagar under Bajajnagar police station limits, had visited the temple with his friend to seek blessings.

According to the complaint registered with Koradi police, the theft took place between 6 pm and 8 pm while Khandelwal was performing the oti bharan ritual at the temple. An unidentified thief allegedly took advantage of the devotees’ diverted attention and stole mobile phones from Khandelwal’s shirt pocket and his friend’s purse.

The stolen property comprised four Apple iPhones collectively valued at ₹1.70 lakh.

Police examined CCTV footage from the temple premises, which reportedly showed an unidentified person stealing the phones. A case was registered against an unknown accused under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with theft.

Further investigation is underway to identify the suspect and recover the stolen phones.
