Nagpur: A wine shop owner was allegedly robbed of cash and electronic items worth around ₹4.7 lakhafter a group of six to seven unidentified men intercepted his car, smashed its window with stones and threatened him with a knife on Canal Road under Ambazari police station limits late Wednesday night.

According to the complaint, the incident took place around 10.55 pm on September 24 near Gubare Bhavan in Gokulpeth. The complainant, Sagar Vinod Johari (40), a wine shop owner and resident of Gittikhadan, was travelling in his car (MH-31-EU-4009) after closing his business for the day.

Johari had allegedly kept the day’s collection and his laptop bag on the rear seat of the car. The cash, approximately ₹4 lakh, was kept in a black leather bag, while another dark-blue Safari bag contained an Acer laptop, mouse, charger and Nothing headphones, collectively valued at around ₹70,000.

Police said that as Johari was travelling from the spot, an unidentified car allegedly approached from behind. Two men were reportedly travelling in the car, while two other men each were riding a moped and motorcycle. The suspects allegedly overtook and blocked Johari’s car.

The attackers allegedly smashed the car’s window with stones and threatened Johari with a knife before forcibly taking the bags containing the cash and electronic equipment.

The accused then allegedly fled from the spot with the stolen property. Based on Johari’s complaint, Ambazari police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police are examining available CCTV footage from the route and surrounding area to identify the suspects and trace their escape route.
