Nagpur: Mankapur police have registered a case against a 50-year-old man for allegedly molesting his 17-year-old stepdaughter and subjecting her to mental harassment at their residence in Zingabai Takli area.

According to the police complaint, the the 50-year-old accused allegedly frequently stayed inside the house wearing only shorts, which the minor girl found distressing. She had reportedly informed her mother about the behaviour, but the accused allegedly did not change his conduct.

On September 23, when the girl and her aunt were reportedly trying to counsel the accused over the issue, an argument broke out. The accused allegedly abused the girl using obscene language, grabbed and scratched her hand, and allegedly touched her chest inappropriately.

Based on the girl’s complaint, Mankapur police registered a case against the accused under Sections 74, 79, 115(2), 296 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act.

Police are conducting further investigation into the allegations.
