Nagpur: Four persons were arrested after allegedly stopping a truck, assaulting its driver and cleaner, and forcibly taking away the vehicle loaded with onions on the Samruddhi Expressway in Buldhana district late Friday night.

The incident took place around 12.30 am on September 25, near Chainage No. 269 within the jurisdiction of Dongargaon police station. Police received information that four persons travelling in a Skoda car had intercepted a truck, assaulted the driver and cleaner, and fled with the truck and its onion consignment.

Following the alert, the night-duty staff of the Malkapur Highway Police Centre immediately reached the spot and gathered details from the truck driver. Police checked the truck’s registration number, CG 04 PP 9113, through the available tracking device.

During the verification, police found that the truck had been stopped for a no-parking violation by the Amana Toll Plaza, Washim, around 10 minutes earlier. The police team immediately contacted PSI Sarnaiak of the Amana Toll Plaza.

Acting on the information, the police intercepted and detained the truck, Skoda car and all four suspects. The accused were subsequently handed over to Dongargaon police for further action.

A case of robbery has been registered at Dongargaon police station in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Lohit Matani.

The action was carried out by API Rahul Patil, PSI Sarnaiak, ASI Khadse, Head Constable Ashish Raut, and Police Constables Ramprasad Dole and Nasir Sheikh of the Buldhana Highway Security Team.
