Nagpur: The Nagpur Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic diversions in the Sitabuldi Traffic Division area to facilitate the construction of an underground tunnel by Maha Metro between Freedom Park Metro Station (Morris College Square) and Institute of Science College (D.P. Road).
According to an official press note, the tunnel construction work will be carried out by YFC & BBG Projects and is expected to continue for approximately one year. As the stretch witnesses heavy vehicular movement, traffic regulations and diversions have been implemented to prevent congestion and reduce the risk of serious road accidents during the construction period.
Traffic Diversions from Freedom Park Metro Station to Institute of Science College
Vehicles travelling from Freedom Park Metro Station (Morris College Square) towards Institute of Science College (D.P. Road) will be diverted as follows:
- Motorists should take a left turn from Morris College Square and proceed via Variety Square.
- From Variety Square, vehicles can take a right turn and continue through Maharaj Bagh Square towards their destination.
- Alternatively, commuters may take a left turn at Zero Mile and travel via the Forest Office Road to reach Institute of Science Square.
Traffic Diversions from Institute of Science College to Freedom Park Metro Station
Vehicles travelling from Institute of Science College (D.P. Road) towards Freedom Park Metro Station (Morris College Square) will follow these alternate routes:
- Commuters can travel via Maharaj Bagh Square, take a left turn, and proceed through Variety Square towards Morris College Square.
- Alternatively, motorists can take a right turn from Board Office Square, continue via Forest Office Road, reach Zero Mile, and then take a right turn towards Freedom Park Metro Station (Morris College Square).
Diversion Period
The traffic diversion order will remain in force from June 4, 2026, to July 3, 2026.
The Nagpur Traffic Police have appealed to all motorists to follow the revised traffic arrangements, cooperate with authorities, and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the construction period.
