Nagpur: The Nagpur City Police Commissionerate has been honoured with the prestigious “Best Efforts for Qualitative Investigation” award by the Director General of Police (DGP) Office, Maharashtra State, Mumbai. The recognition was awarded for the outstanding detection and investigation of a major burglary case involving theft worth over ₹3 crore in Nagpur earlier this year.
The award-winning investigation was carried out by the Crime Branch Unit 1 of Nagpur City Police after a high-profile house burglary took place in Raj Nagar under Sadar Police Station limits in January 2026. Acting swiftly, the police team successfully detected the crime, arrested two history-sheeter and habitual offenders, and recovered jewellery and cash valued at more than ₹3 crore.
The Maharashtra Director General of Police, Sadanand Date, along with the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Pune, took serious note of the exceptional investigative work and selected Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 1 for the state-level honour under the category “Best Efforts for Qualitative Investigation.”
During an official ceremony held at the DGP Office in Mumbai on May 15, 2026, commendation certificates were awarded to key officers involved in the operation, including:
- Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar
- API Rajabhau Jadhav
- API Sachin Bhonde
- Head Constable Ravi Ahir
The officers were recognised for their relentless efforts and round-the-clock investigation that helped crack the serious crime efficiently and recover the stolen valuables.
The achievement has brought pride and recognition to the Nagpur City Police Commissionerate across Maharashtra. Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal congratulated all officers and staff members of Crime Branch Unit 1 for their commendable performance and dedication toward maintaining law and order.
