Nagpur Division Rescues 258 Children, Seizes Liquor Worth ₹15.41 Lakh and Narcotics Valued at ₹59.26 Lakh

Nagpur: Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has recorded significant achievements in passenger safety, security and social responsibility through sustained vigilance and focused enforcement drives across its railway network. The Division’s initiatives have resulted in the rescue of hundreds of vulnerable children, major seizures of illicit substances and recovery of lost passenger belongings, reinforcing public confidence in railway safety measures.


Under Operation Nanhey Farishtey, a dedicated child protection initiative, the Nagpur Division successfully rescued 258 children, including 135 boys and 123 girls, from vulnerable situations at railway stations and railway premises. The rescued children were provided immediate care and later reunited with their parents or handed over to the concerned Child Welfare Committees, highlighting the humanitarian approach of the Railway Protection Force and railway authorities.


As part of Operation Liquor, stringent action was taken against the illegal transportation and possession of liquor within railway premises. A total of 85 cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 35 accused persons. During the operation, illicit liquor and related materials worth ₹15.41 lakh were seized, significantly contributing to the maintenance of law and order in railway areas.


Similarly, under Operation Narcos, the Division intensified its crackdown on narcotics. 33 cases were detected, resulting in the arrest of 21 offenders, with the recovery of narcotic substances valued at ₹59.26 lakh. The proactive drive is aimed at curbing drug trafficking and ensuring a safer environment for passengers, particularly the youth.


In addition, the Nagpur Division efficiently handled 570 cases of left-behind luggage, safely recovering and returning passengers’ belongings worth an estimated ₹1.32 crore, providing major relief and reassurance to travellers.


Central Railway’s Nagpur Division reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe, secure and passenger-friendly railway system and stated that such initiatives will be further strengthened in the coming period.
