Nagpur: The Nagpur City Police celebrated the Maharashtra Police Raising Day with great enthusiasm, discipline and pride at the Police Headquarters Parade Ground, Nagpur, on Friday.
The ceremonial event was held in a dignified and vibrant atmosphere, showcasing the rich legacy and professionalism of the Maharashtra Police. The programme was compered by Assistant Commissioner of Police Narendra Hivare.
Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal graced the occasion as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Co-Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, Additional Commissioner of Police (South Region) Shivaji Rathod, Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) Rajendra Dabhade, along with all Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners, senior officers and personnel of the Nagpur City Police in large numbers.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Singal said the Raising Day, marking the establishment of the Maharashtra Police, is a moment of pride for the Nagpur City Police. He highlighted the force’s consistent performance in maintaining law and order, ensuring citizens’ safety and implementing modern policing initiatives.
The Police Commissioner shared details of strict action taken against narcotics under Operation Thunder, stating that drugs worth over Rs 12 crore have been seized so far. He noted that extensive awareness campaigns conducted in schools, colleges, industrial areas, residential societies and slum pockets have significantly curtailed drug abuse in the city.
Highlighting the rising menace of cybercrime, Dr. Singal emphasised the importance of cyber awareness among citizens. He said several accused have been arrested due to strengthened cybercrime detection systems and appealed to the public to remain vigilant in view of the growing use of digital platforms.
Speaking on Operation Shakti, Dr. Singal said effective and positive action is being taken against crimes against women. He also urged police officers and personnel to take care of their physical health, adding that improved grounds and facilities are being developed to strengthen the overall efficiency of the police force.
On the occasion, the Nagpur City Police were felicitated for securing the top position in Urban Policing in India. Notable achievements under Operation U-Turn were also highlighted, with expectations expressed that the force would continue its exemplary performance.
As part of the Raising Day celebrations, a ceremonial march past, dog squad demonstrations, arms exhibition and cybercrime awareness programmes were organised. Over 400 students from various schools across the city participated enthusiastically.

Concluding the programme, Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal extended Raising Day greetings and congratulated all officers, personnel, students and citizens present.
