Crime Branch Unit-4 Nabs Man Carrying Deadly Weapon in Nandanvan

Nagpur: Swift action by Crime Branch Unit-4 led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man carrying a sharp iron spear blade behind Star Wine Shop in Adarsh Nagar, Nandanvan, on Wednesday afternoon.


Around 12.15 pm, a patrolling team spotted the suspect loitering suspiciously. When challenged, he tried to flee but was chased and caught. The accused identified himself as Mohammad Rameez Raza Shaikh, a resident of Adarsh Nagar.


A search in the presence of panch witnesses revealed a sharp iron blade worth about ₹500 tucked inside his waistband. Police believe he intended to commit a serious crime. An offence under Sections 4/25 of the Indian Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act was registered at Nandanvan Police Station.


The operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP (Crime) Rahul Makanikar and ACP (Crime) Abhijeet Patil, with key participation from API Barange, PSI Aravelli, HC Yuvanand Kadu and PC Mahesh Katwale. Further investigation is on.
