Nagpur Crime Branch Traces Missing Minor Girl; Found Safe After Marrying Boyfriend in Chandrapur

Nagpur: The Nagpur Crime Branch’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) traced a minor girl who had gone missing from the Shantinagar area and found that she had married her boyfriend in Chandrapur district.


According to police, the 37-year-old complainant had approached Shantinagar Police Station after his minor daughter left home on January 20, 2026, without informing anyone and did not return. Despite searching for her, the family was unable to trace her.


Based on the complaint, Shantinagar Police had registered a case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on suspicion that an unidentified person had lured and taken away the minor.


During the parallel investigation, officers of the Crime Branch’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unitreceived information on July 22, 2026, that the girl had married her boyfriend, Prajjwal Maroti Thombre (21), a resident of Bhisi village in Chimur taluka of Chandrapur district.


The police contacted the couple and called them to the Crime Branch office, where they were questioned in detail. The minor girl was also counselled by the officers.


Following the preliminary inquiry, both the girl and the youth were handed over to Shantinagar Policefor further legal action in the case.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajendra Dabhade, DCP (Detection) Deepak Agrawal, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Vaibhav Jadhav, by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Sanjeevani Thorat.
