Nagpur: In another major operation under Operation Thunder, the Nagpur Crime Branch’s Anti-Chain Snatching Squad arrested a 62-year-old man for illegally storing and selling banned tobacco products and pan masala from his residence in Pardi area.
The drive is being carried out across Nagpur city on the orders of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal against those possessing and selling narcotic and prohibited substances.
Raid Conducted at Pardi Residence
Police said that at around 4 pm on April 29, 2026, Crime Branch officers were patrolling in the Pardi police station limits when they received credible information about illegal storage of banned tobacco products.
Acting on the tip-off, police, along with Food Safety Officer officials, raided the residence of:
Madhukar Mahadeorao Mankar (62)
Resident of Plot No. 612, Pardi, Nagpur.
Large Stock of Prohibited Tobacco Seized
During the raid conducted in the presence of witnesses, police found the accused in possession of various banned scented tobacco and pan masala products allegedly meant for sale.
The seized stock included products of brands such as:
- Rimjhim No. 1
- Pan Parag
- Rajnigandha
- Ratna Chhap
- Pan Bahar
- Director
- Rajshree
- Vimal
- V1
Police also seized a kharra-making machine.
The total value of seized goods was estimated at Rs 26,678.
FIR Registered Under BNS and Food Safety Act
Based on a complaint filed by Food Safety Officer Ravina Baban Nagle (25), a case was registered at Pardi Police Station under Sections 123, 223, 274, 275 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 26(1), 26(2), and 59 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
The accused has been arrested.
Operation Thunder Continues in Nagpur
Nagpur Police said the city-wide campaign against narcotics, banned tobacco products and illegal trade will continue with strict action against offenders.
