Nagpur: In a major anti-drug crackdown under Operation Thunder, the Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 02 arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly possessing 750 grams of ganja for sale in the Gittikhadan police station limits.
The action was carried out as part of the campaign launched under the guidance of Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, aimed at creating a drug-free society with the slogan “Let us unite and build a drug-free society.”
Accused Nabbed on Gorewada Road
According to police, at around 4.30 pm on April 29, 2026, Crime Branch Unit 02 officers were patrolling in search of criminals when they received specific information that a man was waiting on a two-wheeler near the water filter point on Gorewada Road to sell narcotics.
A team rushed to the spot and found the suspect sitting on a Honda Shine motorcycle (MH-31-HF-9176) matching the description.
The accused was identified as:
Ravishankar Shrisiyaram Yadav (33)
Resident of Gorewada Vasti, behind Amit Cycle Stores, Gittikhadan, Nagpur.
Ganja Recovered From Bike Dickey
During a search conducted in the presence of panch witnesses, police found a bag containing 750 grams of ganja inside the motorcycle dickey.
Police seized the following items:
- 750 grams ganja
- Honda Shine motorcycle
- Two mobile phones
The total value of seized property is estimated at Rs 70,000.
Two More Suspects Named
During interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed that he procured the ganja with the help of two associates identified as:
- Alok, aged around 27, resident near Katol Railway Station, Nagpur district
- Digambar (full details being verified)
Police said the accused was possessing the contraband for illegal sale and personal financial gain.
Case Registered Under NDPS Act
A case has been registered at Gittikhadan Police Station under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(A), and 29 of the NDPS Act. The accused has been arrested, while further investigation and search for absconding accused are underway.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior Nagpur Police officials and officers of Crime Branch Unit 02.
