Nagpur: The Social Security Branch (SSB) of the Nagpur Crime Branch raided an alleged hookah parlour operating in the Pachpaoli police station area during a night patrol and seized hookah pots, flavours and other material worth ₹31,020.
The action was carried out between 12.54 am and 4.30 am on August 20 at Plot No. 2 in Siddharth Nagar, near Shri Mangal Dairy, Teka Naka, Nagpur.
Police identified the accused as Shahrukh Nasrulla Khan (30), a resident of Siddharth Nagar; Sheikh Arman Sheikh Nasir (20), a resident near the Makkah Masjid at Teka Naka; and Mohammed Sameer Mohammed Ansari (20), a resident of Taj Nagar near Badi Masjid in Pachpaoli.
According to police, the accused were allegedly found supplying tobacco-based hookah products considered harmful to health to customers and facilitating their consumption at the premises.
The Crime Branch team seized hookah pots, hookah flavours and other equipment used for smoking hookah, with the total value of the seized material estimated at ₹31,020.
The accused and seized material were subsequently handed over to the Pachpaoli police for further legal action.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003, along with Section 272 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The action was conducted by the Social Security Team of the Nagpur Crime Branch under the supervision of Police Inspector Darshan Patil.
