Nagpur Crime Branch Nabs Three Bookies Betting on Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals IPL Match

Nagpur: The Unit 5 of Crime Branch apprehended three individuals involved in betting on the IPL cricket match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals under justification of Hingna Police Station. The raid was conducted within city limits based on a tip-off about illegal gambling activities during the live broadcast of the match.


The case has been registered at Hingna Police Station under sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, 1887.


Accused Identified as Prajwal Shravanji Upase (25), resident of Gumgaon, Hingna, Sagar Pundlik Rajurkar (33), resident of MHADA Colony, Butibori, Tehsil Hingna and Kunal Ashok Sordate (approx. 30), resident near Hanuman Mandir, Gumgaon, Hingna.


Police confiscated electronic equipment worth ₹81,500 during the raid. This included:

• Oppo Air Pads

• Oppo mobile phone

• One router

• Three power banks

• One desktop computer (Eicher company)

• Mouse and other accessories


According to police, a confidential input revealed that Kunal Sordate had set up a betting operation at his residence on the second floor near Hanuman Mandir in Gumgaon. Following this lead, a raid was conducted, during which all three accused were found actively betting on the live IPL match.


Betting paraphernalia and electronic gadgets were seized from the possession of Prajwal Upase and Sagar Rajurkar. A case has been officially registered at Hingna Police Station, and all the accused along with the seized materials have been handed over for further investigation.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Inspector, Crime Branch Unit 05, Nagpur City.
