Visits Flood-Prone Khedi Village, Directs Officials to Remain on High Alert
Nagpur: Ahead of the monsoon season, Nagpur District Collector Kumar Ashirwad and Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Nagpur Vinayak Mahamuni conducted a comprehensive review of pre-monsoon disaster management preparedness in Kamptee taluka on Thursday.
As part of the inspection, the officials first visited the flood-prone village of Khedi to assess the on-ground preparedness for possible flood situations during the upcoming monsoon. They reviewed vulnerable areas in the village, availability of rescue and relief materials, emergency response systems, readiness of shelter centres, and precautionary measures taken for the safety of residents.
During the visit, the District Collector instructed concerned officials to remain alert and ensure immediate response mechanisms are in place to protect lives and property in the event of floods or other natural disasters. He stressed that public safety should remain the top priority during the monsoon season.
Later, the District Collector visited the Kamptee Tehsil office and chaired a review meeting with officials from various departments. Representatives from the Public Works Department, National Highways Authority, Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Agriculture Department, Health Department, Police Department, Revenue Department, including Circle Officers and Talathis, along with Block Development Officers of the Panchayat Samiti, were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, officials were directed to complete all necessary pre-monsoon preparations in a timely manner through coordinated efforts among departments. Instructions were also issued regarding safe evacuation of residents from flood-hit areas, maintenance of shelter centres, healthcare services, electricity supply, road repairs, and strengthening of emergency response systems to effectively tackle any monsoon-related disaster situation.
