Nagpur: A 32-year-old man was brutally murdered near a temple in Nandanvan area of Nagpur on Friday evening, following an old dispute. Police have detained the main accused along with a juvenile in conflict with law in connection with the murder.
According to police, complainant Durgashankar Ratansingh Thakur (70), who lives on rent at Trikoni Park in Sadbhavana Nagar, stated that his son Sanjay alias Monu Thakur (32) was passing through Gali No. 1 in Nandanvan slum near Mariyम्मा temple at around 7 pm on May 22, 2026.
Police said accused Ayush Jaipal Ludelkar (22), a resident of Gangabai Ghat, Sweeper Colony in Lakadganj, along with a juvenile accomplice, intercepted Sanjay over an old rivalry. Acting in coordination, the duo allegedly attacked him with a knife and stabbed him repeatedly in the chest and abdomen. They also allegedly smashed his head with a stone, causing grievous injuries.
Locals rushed the injured man to Government Medical Hospital where doctors declared him dead during treatment.
Following the complaint, Nandanvan Police Station registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Considering the seriousness of the offence, police immediately launched a search operation and detained both the accused and the juvenile. Further investigation is underway.
