Nagpur City Police Arrest Youth with Over 1 Kg Ganja Under ‘Operation Thunder’ in Pachpaoli

Nagpur: As part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive “Operation Thunder – Let’s Unite to Build a Drug-Free Society,” conceptualised by Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, the Pachpaoli Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly possessing ganja for sale in Nagpur.


Acting on a specific tip-off, a police team conducted a raid at around 10.50 pm on February 20, 2026, near Kale Tea Stall, behind Shani Bazaar at Kamal Chowk under Pachpaoli police station limits. The accused, identified as Saurabh Ramswaroop Asajja (21), a resident of the locality, was found in possession of 1 kg 191 grams of ganja.


Police seized contraband worth Rs 30,075, including ganja and Rs 300 in cash, from his possession in the presence of panch witnesses. During interrogation, the accused reportedly revealed that he had procured the narcotic substance from his associate, identified as Agrawal (30), a resident of Gondia, and was allegedly planning to sell it for financial gain.


A case has been registered at Pachpaoli Police Station under Sections 8(c), 20(b), 11(A), and 29 of the NDPS Act. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway to trace his associate and dismantle the supply chain.


The operation was carried out by Pachpaoli team led by PI Baburao Raut under the guidance of senior officers, including Additional Commissioner of Police (North Division) Rajendra Dabhade and other officials of the Lakadganj Division.
