Nagpur: In a prompt and coordinated rescue effort, Ajni Police in Nagpur successfully traced a four-year-old missing boy within an hour of receiving the complaint, bringing relief to his anxious family.
The complainant, Rahul Lokhande, a resident of Naik Nagar, Plot No. 118 under Ajni police station limits, approached the police station at around 6.15 pm on February 22, 2026, reporting that his son, Vihaan Rahul Lokhande (4), had been missing since 5 pm and had not returned home.
Upon receiving the information, the duty officer immediately alerted the Police Control Room and informed senior officials. A large-scale search operation was launched without delay. Teams from Ajni Police Station, along with personnel from Beltarodi, Hudkeshwar, Imamwada, Nandanvan, and Sakkardara police stations, were mobilised to trace the child.
Senior officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Rashmita Rao (Zone 4, Nagpur City) and Assistant Commissioner of Police Hivare (Ajni Division), visited the spot and supervised the search operation. Police teams gathered detailed information from the family and began scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to track the child’s movement.
After sustained efforts and technical verification, officers discovered that the child was actually inside the house. A thorough search of the premises led to the boy being found asleep in a room on the upper floor of the residence. He was immediately handed over safely to his father.
During the search operation, local corporator Bharti Bunde also extended support by circulating information about the missing child on WhatsApp groups, aiding the police efforts.
The search mission was conducted under the guidance of DCP Rashmitha Rao and ACP Hivare, and under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Nitinchandra Rajkumar. The operation was executed by Police Sub-Inspector Siddhant Maske, Head Constables Manoj Neware and Avinash Changole, Police Constables Rukhsar Sheikh (Buckle No. 2644), Reshma Khan (Buckle No. 21362), Ashish Bawane (Buckle No. 21023), along with investigation teams and staff from Beltarodi, Hudkeshwar, Imamwada, Nandanvan, and Sakkardara police stations.
The swift response and coordinated teamwork of Nagpur City Police ensured the safe recovery of the child within a remarkably short time, highlighting the efficiency of the city’s emergency response mechanism.
