Burglars Decamp with Rs 2.7 Lakh Cash and Gold from Locked House in Kalamna

Nagpur: A case of housebreaking and theft has been registered at Kalamna Police Station after unidentified burglars broke into a locked residence and decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 2.70 lakh.


The complainant, Nikhil Raju Verma (39), was residing on rent at Plot No. 9, Narmada Nagar, near 4th Naka under Kalamna police station limits. Between 8 pm on February 3 and 7 am on February 6, 2026, Verma had locked his house and gone with his family to Dighori due to the ill health of a relative.


During his absence, unidentified accused allegedly broke open the main door lock and latch, entered the house, and stole Rs 70,000 in cash along with gold ornaments valued at Rs 2 lakh from a bedroom cupboard.


Following the complaint, Assistant Police Inspector Prerana Kale registered an offence under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against unknown persons. Police have launched a search operation and further investigation is ongoing.
