Nagpur: A 40-year-old man was booked by Hudkeshwar police for allegedly making repeated false calls to the emergency helpline Dial 112 and claiming that his brother had assaulted him and attempted to murder him.

According to police, the incident occurred around 8 pm on September 18, 2026. The caller, identified as Shyam Bhaurao Janorkar (40), a resident of Shri Krishna Nagar near Nimbalkar School in the Hudkeshwar area, allegedly called Dial 112 around seven to eight times.

Janorkar reportedly told the emergency helpline that his brother had assaulted him and committed a “half murder” of him. Acting on the information, a police team led by PSI Pravin Wakale, along with police constables Ravindra Vanjari and Ashish Dubey and beat marshal police head constable Someshwar Bulbule, immediately reached the location.

However, during questioning, Janorkar allegedly gave evasive answers, following which police found that no such incident had actually taken place.

Police said Janorkar had deliberately provided false and misleading information, thereby diverting police resources and causing confusion.

Following the guidance of senior police officials and Hudkeshwar Senior Police Inspector Anamika Mirzapure, PSI Pravin Wakale registered a non-cognisable offence against Janorkar under Section 217 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on the complaint of Police Head Constable Someshwar Bulbule.

Police are conducting further inquiry into the matter.
